Welcome to the Parishes of Escot, Feniton and Payhembury, known as the EFP Churches,
The Parishes of Escot, Feniton and Payhembury, known as the EFP Churches, have a joint vision 'To promote Christian example and worship by encouraging a greater knowledge and love of Christ amongst those who live in our rural communities, and to support each Parish Church and our Church Schools to grow in and share their faith in Christ'.
Our joint Mission Action Plan is based on the diocese’s three guiding principles, growing in prayer, making new disciples and serving the people of Devon with joy.
For the past twelve years the parishes of Escot, Feniton and Payhembury have worked closely together within the Otter Vale team ministry. This consists of a combination of ten parishes with twelve churches, centred upon Ottery St Mary, and known as the Otter Vale Mission Community (OVMC)
Three times a year the clergy and churchwardens of OVMC meet to share in the activities of each parish and to cement its unity. To foster ecumenical relationships OVMC is a member of “Churches Together in Ottery”.
EFP churches, being at the northern end of the Community share a 0.5 appointment of a Team Vicar
Each parish has its own identity and character. As a group of three parishes we aim to encourage our congregations to move between parishes if service times or type of service meet the needs of particular worshippers. We hold joint services on our Patronal Festivals and on the fifth Sunday of a month we support Escot. Joint activities include Prayers for the Three Parishes, Lent Study groups, a Bible Study group, monthly Worship and Praise and Café services. When possible we support the social activities of our neighbouring parishes.
