There are a number of charities which we support regularly during the year
Operation Christmas Child is organised by Samaritan's Purse. We collect items with which to fill seasonally wrapped shoeboxes which are then sent to children in different loactions around the world. In 2014 the shoeboxes have been sent to Romania.
In addidtion to the shoeboxes themselves we also hold an annual coffee morning - usually in the autumn to raise money to help pay for the distribution of the shoeboxes. Keep an eye on our calendar to find out when the 2015 one will occur.
Our shoebox organisers are Kate Harvey and Sheila Lanning (01404 850699). If you would like to help with our support of this charity, please contact Kate ot Sheila.
As we progress through 2015 we hope to update this page with details of the items which we have collected and still need to fill our shoeboxes for the 2015 campaign.
We support the Children's Society in a number of ways. Our main event is the Christingle Service which is held in Feniton Church on Christmas Eve at 4pm. This is a very popular service (but don't let that put you off - we'll find space for you!) with the church full to the brim of old, young and those in between sharing the expectation associated with Christmas and our celebration of the birth of Christ. The collection at this service is donated to the work of the Children's Sociey.
In addition, a number of parishioners host charity collection boxes in their homes in which friends and family can make their donations.
Our co-ordinator for our support of this charity is Sheila Lanning. Please call her (01404 850699) if you would like to help.
Each year we donate the collection at our Remebrance Service to the Royal British Legion.
The toilet in St Andrew's Church is twinned with two others. The donations given for the use of the toilet are used to twin more toilets as we receive more money to help others receive the health benefits we do from having good sanitation.
Our Harvest service collection each year is donated to Water Aid.
We support Devon Historic Churches Trust through a regular donation and our parishioners' participation in the Devon Historic Churches Trust Day in September which includes their annual 'Ride and Stride' event.
We are very grateful to the Trust for their financial support to St Andrew's during the restoration and re-ordering of the church following the 2008 flood.
In addition to these charities which we support on a regular basis we also support others through the year, mostly by means of proceeds from coffee mornings. If you would like to organise a coffee morning in Feniton Church in support of a particular charity, please contact Sheila Lanning (01404 850699).
Please note: The PCC will need to ensure that all charities supported in the church's name are suitable.
