Hello The06 Youth Pastor Supporters,
Now that Graham Harry has been in post for just over 3 months I thought it might be interesting for you to hear how things are going so far.
The directors of The06 meet with Graham regularly to review his progress and to discuss his plans.
We believe he has made a really great start to his new post. He is now visiting the local schools on a regular basis. He has given assembly talks and led school worship.
He is beginning to build up some good relationships with some of the Kings School students where he regularly visits during the lunch break.
Graham has also met with many local organisations including the PCSO, Town Council, the local EDDC Community Support Officer and a local Parliamentary candidate. He is also now involved in the Ottery Skate Park.
He has a real interest in mental health issues affecting young people. He is also keen on helping young people and their parents to avoid the dangers of substance abuse. We are supporting him in this area by arranging additional training.
Graham has also started planning a residential trip for young people in the summer of 2018 probably to Dartmoor
He has been working with local churches in supporting them in their youth and children’s work. He has attended a couple of Messy Church events and is working with several church based young peoples’ groups in and around Ottery.
All in all we could not wish for a better start to our Youth Pastor position and over the next months we expect to see significant progress in many areas involving our churches and our schools.
In 2016 I asked those of you who had pledged support for this work if you would activate your pledges. I believe most of you have but we would be grateful if you would just check. If you are not sure what you had pledged or you need our bank details please just send me an email and we will get back to you. Please encourage others to join us in supporting this work.
We really appreciate your support which has made this venture possible. Bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to the young people in our community and helping them to grow and develop into positive members of society is, in our view, a vital task for all of us.
Thank you again.
In His service
