It seems like a long time since I wrote Escot news but of course last month Eve and Keith filled the spot. We held a farewell lunch for them early in March since when they have moved to Calne; I spoke to them a few days after their move and all seems to have gone well although they are surrounded by boxes!

We have just held our Annual Parochial Church Meeting, the occasion on which we presenst last your's annual report and accounts and elect church wardens, Parochial church Council (PCC) and officers for the following year. Numbers at the meeting were at an all time low of six but if anyone would like to receive a copy of the report and accounts please let me know. I was elected as the sole churchwarden; all six current members of the PCC were re-elected and Shelagh Rogers not only joined the PCC but agreed to act as secretary for which we are most grateful.

However the small band of us are continuing with fund-raising, even more important now as we have fewer regular givers, and have two important events for your diaries in May. The first weekend in May, our 175th anniversary, we are holding two open days on Sunday adn Monday, when we hope to welcome many people who normally find the church closed. Information from the baptism, wedding abd burial registers will be on display, together with the graveyard map, so if you have family connections, do come and look. We will have old photos, old PCC minute books and other interesting records of our past on display, and tea, coffee and cakes will be available We are open after our service at about 12 noon to 5pm on Sunday and from 2pm to 5pm on Monday.

Our Spanish Supper Evening is on May 9th at Gosford Pines where we will enjoy tapas, paella and other Spanish delicacies. Vegetarian options will be available so please do come and enjoy what promises to be a very good evening. If we are as lucky with the weather as we were on our last supper evening, we can enjoy drinks and tapas outside. Tickets are available from me at £12.50 to include your first drink.

Before this we will of course celebrate Easter and warmly invite you to any of our services; details are in the centre of the parish magazine (or on the website calendar or Services section - ed.).
