Dear EFP church folk,

The C of E has issued important new guidance on wearing face masks when attending church. It reads as follows:

"We strongly advise that face coverings should be worn by all those attending a place of worship, including ministers, worshippers, staff, volunteers, contractors and visitors, where there may be
other people present; remembering that they are mainly intended to protect other people, not the wearer, from coronavirus COVID-19and that they are not a replacement for physical distancing and regular hand washing.”

The full guidance can be read at https://www.churchofengland.org/sites/default/files/2020-07/COVID%2019%20advice%20on%20face%20coverings%20v1.0.pdf . The guidance will remain in force into further notice.

The purpose of this guidance is to mitigate further against the risk of spread of infection. However, it presents an additional challenge in sharing worship together. We will negotiate this as best we can. Thankfully God’s Spirit knows no barriers.

In my parish magazine article for August, I reflect on the experience of wearing masks. A copy is attached. I hope you each find you are able to adjust to the new requirement for mask wearing in shops.
